The Summer I Turned Pretty is a romantic novel written by Jenny Han, following Isabel “Belly” Conklin as she spends her yearly summer at Cousins Beach. Belly has always felt like the tag-along little sister, but this summer is different—both Fisher brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah, finally notice how much she has grown. She begins to navigate new feelings, shifting friendships, and the complications of first love. As the summer unfolds, Belly learns that growing up means facing change, making difficult choices, and discovering who she wants to be. I would rate this book 5 out of 5. It has a very interesting and breathtaking plot that kept me hooked the whole time. I could hardly put this book down and kept flipping the pages uncontrollably. Jenny Han’s writing makes the story feel real and impossible to step away from. Overall, it is a book I would happily recommend to anyone who loves a perfect summer read.
