Seniors & Sophomores Shoot To Win

Battle of the Grades Recap

The second ever Battle of the Grades game that was hosted by the National Honor Society, lived up to hype. This charity event was a huge success with the support of all the fans that came out, packed the stands, and cheered the students on. Something is different about this event; it’s a moment where the students can let go and come together to win, yet not everyone was a winner. So, who are the top ‘Stangs here at C. Milton Wright?

On Jan. 27, the game was finally here; all the rivalry that ignited between the grades was going to be settled. The night started off with the underclassmen game, Freshmen vs. Sophomores. The Freshmen team was coached by Carmine Higgins and the Sophomore team was coached by Rachel Cannavale, Bubba Tolson, and Jamal Hightower. The Sophomores took the victory, winning by around 15 points. After game one, the stands were getting hyped from the half court shots and trivia with people in the crowd that occurred during the time outs. Everyone was sitting on the edge of their seats wanting more. Half time between the two games did not disappoint. The teachers and students went against each other in a 3-point shootout.

While they were taking the court the Seniors and Juniors were locking in behind the scenes, getting their plays in check, and players ready. They were both determined to leave the school with a win. Junior team, coached by Noah Clarke and Emma Jankowiak and Senior team, coached by Anna Buyse and Gracie Lewinski. This game was close with the scoreboard only being a few points in difference, but the senior team came in clutch, taking the lead by 12 points at the end, reminding the school who’s on top.

Overall, the Battle of the Grades was another unforgettable night for the people of C. Milton Wright. Laughs were shared, rivals came to an end, and memories were made.  It was a huge success, as all the proceeds raised by the National Honors Society were donated to Charities within Harford County. Come back next year to see who will win.

Will the seniors and sophomores take the title again or will the freshmen and juniors come for revenge?
