If you haven’t heard, Harford Mall will be getting redesigned into something new! The mall will be made into an open air-shopping plaza; Macy’s will become a Whole Foods Market, and the old Sears might become an Amazon Fresh.  

The redesign of Harford Mall is designed to create a vibrant community hub with a variety of restaurants, retail shops, and green spaces.  

These are my thoughts about Harford Mall. I’m excited to see how they will make the redevelopment work. I’m hoping that they will add new stores or even fast-food places. I feel like they should add a Wingstop to the plaza since it’s a fast-food place that has become popular. I also feel like they should maybe add Spencer’s and Hot Topic as their own stores. With this new layout I feel like “Harford Mall” will have a comeback in popularity.  

I interviewed Zakary Hubert; he is a senior here at CMW! I decided to interview him because I thought he would be a good fit for this topic! He said, “It personally makes me very sad knowing that my once beloved Harford Mall is being reconstructed, but it’s also good because new things bring excitement and attraction and I think a little revamp of the Harford Mall will bring back some of that attraction! I also think they should add some new hot stores and restaurants, including Wingstop and other cooler stores!”  

At the end of the day, I hope they make the old mall into something that people will enjoy again and want to go to. If they add a Wingstop, then people will be making that area extremely active.
