Ocean City Senior Week

Ocean City Senior Week

Good Vibes & Tan Lines

As we grow up, big changes start to pull us in different directions, which is why it’s so important to make the most of our final moments together. Since the early 2000s, senior week has been a tradition where graduates take one last trip usually to Ocean City or Myrtle Beach to spend a week with friends before everyone heads off to college.

This year, most of the seniors are heading down to Ocean City for a week of fun in the sun at the beach. I plan on going with Victoria, Isa, and Miriam down to Ocean City for a couple of days. After talking with them, they all expressed their excitement about the trip. Isa says she is excited to go to restaurants and ride the Ferris wheel, while Vic and Miriam say they are most excited about taking pictures on the beach.

Ocean City, Maryland has a lot to offer when it comes to rides, food, shops, etc. Some cool places students can visit on their trip down there include nice restaurants such as Frager’s Island, Coastal Salt, and Shotti’s Point. There are many restaurants, but Ocean City is also known for some popular foods as well. For example, their famous boardwalk fries, blue crabs and crab cakes, and even funnel cakes and saltwater taffy. There are many activities to take part in while in Ocean City, Maryland. The boardwalk is the main event, with three miles of things to do and see, including arcades, bike rentals for rides, and gift shops and stores. Besides the boardwalk, there are many activities. For example, amusement parks and rides, parasailing, jet skis, fishing on the pier, mini golf, escape rooms, and the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museum.

But besides food and fun, it is also important that students stay safe while in Ocean City. Every year, lots of teens decide to drink and party with their friends during their stay. While it is okay to have fun with your friends, it is important to be responsible when going out at night and even during the day. Just last July 2025, an 18-year-old was reported injured in what could have been a fatal shooting. Things like this are reminders that every decision you make matters, and things can happen in an instant. Even down to getting in trouble with boardwalk police. Kids are caught and taken to the station all the time to have things they aren’t supposed to do or do things they aren’t supposed to do.

In the end, senior week is about more than just the beach, the food, or the pictures. It’s about the wonderful memories we make before life takes us in different directions. While it’s important to have fun and enjoy every moment, it’s just as important to stay safe and make smart choices. This trip is one of the last chances to be together like this, and making the most of it the right way is what will make it truly unforgettable for everyone.
