Beyond the countless number of assignments, tests, quizzes, and due dates, teachers are some of the people who push us to be the best versions of ourselves. During Teacher Appreciation Week, all students have the opportunity to recognize their teachers and thank them for all the dedication they provide.
Teacher Appreciation Week occurs from Monday, May 3rd to Friday, May 7th. To express your gratitude towards your teachers, there are many things you can gift to show your appreciation. This can include handwritten notes, classroom supplies, gift cards, and more. Other than giving gifts, this week is an important time to recognize how much hard work teachers operate through.
In order to gain an understanding of how students view their teachers, I decided to interview a student at C. Milton Wright who chose to stay anonymous. When asked what their favorite part about Teacher Appreciation Week, they said “recognizing teachers and looking at all they have done for us students.” Then, I asked what some of the best qualities are that teachers in our school share. They responded with “determination, empathy, and patience.” Finally, I asked what else teachers help with besides academics. They responded with “supporting others in other places outside of school like home.”
As students, it can be easy to overlook how much time teachers spend on applying themselves to our education. Teacher Appreciation Week is a chance to celebrate some of our biggest role models. Remember to give your thanks and gratitude to your teachers today.
