Casserole for a Cause is a community-driven organization that helps to feed hungry, homeless, or struggling individuals. To achieve this, schools and other community will help accumulate food items for volunteers to prepare dishes with.
Continuing C. Milton Wright’s annual food drive, you can be involved in supporting Casserole for a Cause. To take part in this, you can bring in a number of items into your homeroom teacher. These items include taco seasoning, refried beans, diced greens, bread crumbs, chiles, salsa, taco shells, Lipton onion soup mix, pasta sauce, rice, cream of chicken soup, aluminum foil, and pans. The food drive occurs on April 20th, 2026.
To gather more information on the food drive, I interviewed Mrs. Drzik, who helps run the program. When asked about the benefits of Casserole For a Cause, she stated “It helps a couple of groups! Students get the experience of advertising and running a food drive, choosing casseroles to make that are cost effective, determining how many casseroles we can make, and then actually making them. The entire project is student led. The casseroles are frozen and donated to the Sharing Table food pantry located in Edgewood. The food pantry serves hundreds of Harford County residents a week. Each family receives a bag of non-perishable items and a frozen casserole. Students feel great about making food for others, and families get food to put on their tables. All food donated from CMW families is either used to make casseroles or donated to the food pantry.” When also asked about the items, she said “We got many items that we used for casseroles. The items we got the most of were rice and canned goods. Students even created some extra casseroles based on the donations!”

Casserole for a Cause is a great way for our school to come together and help others in need. Today gives you the opportunity to be apart of a meaningful organization that helps support families and others who need it. Bring your donations and help us spread kindness!
