Euphoria is a popular TV series on HBO Max that came out in 2019. Euphoria is based on the lives of different teenagers at East Highland High School, starring main characters Rue Bennett, Nate Jacobs, Maddy Perez, Cassie Howard, Kat Hernandez, Lexi Howard, Jules Vaughn, Fezco, and Cal Jacobs. This story is told by Rue, who is a struggling drug addict trying to figure out her life after she is released from rehab following an overdose. Each episode focuses on a different character and their story.
This show is rated TV-MA since it is a mature series dealing with substance abuse, profanity, and some violence. Euphoria talks a lot about real-life problems that many teenagers can relate to. For example, self-esteem, addiction, toxic or abusive relationships, identity crisis and self-discovery, trauma, etc. People who struggle with these issues in their day-to-day lives may find this comforting since it allows them to feel seen.
Euphoria is a very unique show with its beautiful yet hypnotic vibe, using neon lights, blue and purple color schemes, and glittery makeup looks. With everything that occurs in the show regarding the characters, it can give the show a chaotic feel, and with Labrinth playing a huge role in the music, it adds to the moody, chaotic vibe, giving the series its own identity.
It’s been nearly seven years since season one of Euphoria came out, and just over four years since season two came out. Now fast forward to April 12th, 2026, the last season has finally come out, and everyone has a lot to say about it…
After talking to some friends to get better insight on how they felt about the new season, I can conclude that this new season is popularly liked by most viewers, including my peers like Mia Connell, Victoria Mendez, and Pam Pollin. They all agreed that the new season was not what they were expecting. Mia stated that season three does not give the “Euphoria” vibe, and that they completely switched the aesthetic of the show, which I can agree with since the new season has more of a “western” crime vibe to it. Pam also agrees with Mia, saying that the new season doesn’t have that traditional neon and glitter we were used to seeing on screen. She also says that she’s sad some actors won’t be returning for season three, for example Barbie Ferreira (Kat Hernandez), Storm Reid (Gia Bennett), Algee Smith (Chris McKay), and Angus Cloud (Fezco), along with Eric Dane (Cal Jacobs), who will not be returning. Victoria states that she is disappointed in the lifestyles they have chosen to live outside of high school.
New episodes drop every Sunday like they did with the last two seasons, and I am excited about where the new season takes us and how everything plays out.
