Shamrock shake season is back across the United States with various McDonalds locations offering their iconic shamrock shakes. This colorful Mint shake returned to US locations on the 17th of February to celebrate the upcoming Saint Patrick’s Day. So, in celebration of the upcoming holiday, my mom, sister, and I decided to go to McDonalds.
Me and my mom got the original shamrock shakes, and my sister chose to get the Shamrock Oreo McFlurry. The Shakes cost $4.99 each, and the McFlurry cost approx. $5.59. As at any fast-food restaurant, the service was quick and timely. The shake itself was overall soft and creamy like all McDonalds shakes. To my pleasant surprise the mint flavoring wasn’t nearly as overpowering and was actually quite refreshing rather than tasting like I drank liquid toothpaste. Overall, I would rate the shamrock shake a 6/10. The shake is definitely good, but I’m personally not a huge fan of mint flavored things. The shake is carried by the virtue of being a McDonalds’ shake which is my personal favorite fast-food shake.
Now, on to the opinion of my mom and sister. My sister Vivan disliked her McFlurry, mentioning her disappointment in the weakness of the mint flavor, saying, “the mint flavor was underwhelming.” On the other hand, my mom liked her shamrock shake saying that she liked the consistency and flavor of the shake. She appreciated that the mint flavor “wasn’t in your face.”
If you are to try the shake your opinion on the shamrock shake is likely to be based on two important factors. 1. Whether you like the consistency of McDonalds’ shakes and 2: to what extent you like mint. However regardless of what your opinion, is no one can deny the shamrock shake is part of the early spring season and Saint Patrick’s Day as a whole.
