The smell of freshly brewed coffee and the aroma of flavors have made its way to Harford County. With the long-anticipated opening of 7 Brew, traffic has picked up and chatter has to. Known for its funky and energetic energy, 7 Brew isn’t a traditional coffee spot. It has a wide range of customizable drinks which differ from other coffee chains like Starbucks. Founded in 2017, the shop quickly expanded all over the US out of Rogers, Arkansas. Here is an overview of the menu and whether it is worth the extensive line.
I decided to get a drink around three in the afternoon on Sunday. When I got into the line, it took me 36 minutes to get my drink. For the number of cars, the line felt like it was moving pretty fast. 7 Brew employee and student at C. Milton Wright, Miranda Cherry, expressed, “I do like the job, it is just a lot.” Evidently, we can see why there is so much pressure on the workers. Cars have been wrapped around the block filled with thirsty people anticipating an excellent experience.
7 Brew’s menu has exclusively drinks, which is different compared to other spots like Dunkin and Starbucks. However, the menu stands out because of how customizable the drinks are. Coffee, sodas, and energies are the main drinks, but there are also teas, smoothies, and lemonades. Within all those drinks, you can mix and match the flavors of your choice. For example, if you order an iced coffee, you can add flavors from vanilla to cupcake. Or if you order a soda, you can add cherry flavoring or something else that is fruity. “It is fun to see the combinations people come up with, some things I would never order!” Miranda said.
My mom and I went together, and we both ordered things that were on the opposite side of the spectrum. She ordered a Sweet and Salty hot coffee, which had salted caramel and white chocolate flavoring. I ordered a Sunrise Energy which had peach and raspberry flavoring. When I got my drink, I was surprised by the size. I ordered a large and it was definitely big. It was bigger than a Starbucks venti. The coffee appeared the same.
I enjoyed my drink a lot. I thought it was refreshing and very tasty. My mom was not as happy with her coffee; she thought it was okay, it just underwhelmed her. However, Miranda confirmed with me that “the hot drinks aren’t as good as the cold ones. People have agreed on that at work” after I told her about my mom’s reaction. I paid 17 dollars for both drinks, which honestly felt like a lot.
Overall, I would go again. Due to the price and location, I would not go every day. A more reliable coffee place that you could go to every morning would be Dunkin or Starbucks. Still, I would go for a sweet treat, and it is for sure a must try place. 7 Brew has created a spark in our area that is fun and tasty, one that I hope sticks around for a while.
