This month, we are excited to showcase Ms. Ryan, a loving Forensic Science and Earth and Environmental teacher at C. Milton Wright High School. An amazing member of the CMW staff for twelve years, Ms. Ryan currently teaches Forensic Science, AP Earth and Environmental Systems, and Earth and Environmental Systems.
Becoming a teacher, Ms. Ryan wanted to teach students about how the world works. She wanted to use hands-on techniques, like fingerprinting and labs that help students learn. She soon realized her true passion was in teaching! Therefore, her journey into education began.
Her favorite class to teach is all of them. Ms. Ryan loves Forensic Science for the crime stories, AP Environmental Science for the knowledge to make informed decisions in daily life and Earth because of the natural phenomena that is taught like earthquakes, volcanoes, weather, and climate change!
Ms. Ryan stays involved outside the classroom. She is the co-advisor for the school’s Junior Class Council!
Outside of school, Ms. Ryan’s favorite thing to do is make memories with her kids. It could be everyday moments like making dinner together or playing a game or it could be big things like hosting Friendsgiving or going to Hershey Park!
A quote that Ms. Ryan uses all the time that helps students succeed and grow in her class is “Life is about catching greenlights and realizing that the yellows and reds eventually turn green.” Matthew McConaughey, which is an awesome quote to help others, especially if they are stuck or think they won’t get through the class!
Ms. Ryan is a terrific example of what it means to be both a dedicated teacher and a person who inspires others to grow. We’re lucky to have her at C. Milton Wright! Go Mustangs!
