Raising Canes has been the new hot place to get food recently, but is it worth it? Personally, I have been several times and have fallen into the trap of attraction. It has become my comfort food, but honestly, I don’t always find myself finishing the entire three finger combo. Every time someone asks me if I want to go to Canes, I will exclaim “YES!” But should it always be worth my last 13 bucks? 

Raising Canes came to Bel air in the middle of September. Cars lined up going in and out of the parking lot, and workers appeared overwhelmed. At that time, everyone was excited to go and try the food. Raising Canes only serves chicken; you can get a combination of the number of tenders, but the meal will always come with fries, Texas Toast, Coleslaw, and the famous Canes Sauce.  

Me and my friend, Lilly Budellis, like to order the three-finger combo with no coleslaw and an extra Texas Toast. Of the entire Canes experience, Lilly’s favorite part is “eating the food” she states. I would agree with her, but the environment is a great place to go with your friends. The initial impression of the food is the common fast-food display. The red basket packed with food is a sight for sore eyes.  

Once you bite into the chicken, it is warm and juicy. No doubt the chicken is tasty, but many people still question how does it compare to other places? Lilly, whose favorite chicken place is Chick fil A, says “the chicken is lower than a lot of other places.” The chicken is certainty average. After you have had it a couple of times, it is not as fantastic as the first time. Whereas some other chicken places have that timeless taste. 

 Moving from the chicken, Canes is the most famous for their sauce. Out of everything on the menu, the sauce is worth all of the attention. Lilly reaffirms this by saying, “they don’t give enough” when asked her opinion on the sauce. I can surely say that the Canes sauce beats out most other chicken spots’ sauce. In addition, the fries and toast are definitely not something to complain about. They add to the hearty culinary experience in a positive way. I have never tasted the coleslaw; I am not crazy about any coleslaws. I wouldn’t sacrifice a space in my basket for something I won’t eat, while I could have another delicious toast. 

Overall, Raising Canes has become a staple in our community. I have gone several times, and plan to continue to go. Is the Canes worth the backed-up traffic? No. Raising Canes is just like any other average fast-food restaurant. Someone could be just as happy skipping the long line and heading across the street to Chick fil A. But do not rule it out, just don’t sacrifice your time and patience.
