Baseball season is getting ready to start, and we have plenty of things to go over. Currently, the WBC (world baseball championship) is going on. This is almost like the World Cup for baseball with 12 national teams going head-to-head trying to win the tournament. Then there is also college baseball underway. So naturally, the next one up is the biggest of them all, the MLB.

There are many storylines that are occurring in Baseball. One of the biggest story lines is the rise of the Pittsburg Pirates behind pitcher Paul Skenes. This is showing potential for the Pirates competing for the NL central. There has been lots of spending in the AL East with both the Bluejays and Orioles spending big money on multiple players. With everything starting to kick off, who are the projected winners and losers of this season?

The LA Dodgers are the current favorites to win the world series. The biggest star is the two-way star Shohei Ohtani who has been a monster for the Dodgers. But don’t let him overshine the elite infielder and outfielder Mookie Betts and the first baseman Freddie Freeman. The next favorite is a very accomplished team with the New York Yankees. The big star is Outfielder Aaron Judge who has been a dominant home run hitter in the MLB, followed by pitcher Garret Cole and outfielder Juan Soto. A great player, Aaron Judge, is followed by a strong supporting cast around him. The third favorite is the Seattle Mariners led by catcher Cal Raleigh who led the team with 60 homeruns, superstar outfielder Julio Rodreguez and outfielder Randy Arozarena. I interviewed a close friend of mine student Elijiah Tyson. He said, “I believe the LA Dodgers will win the world series because of the insane amount of talent on the team”.

While the season hasn’t started yet, we can still guess and speculate about who we think will win MVP. The favorite is the LA Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani. He is consistently a great player on both sides of the ball. Number two is Aaron Judge who is known for being able to hit the ball into the stands, while also being a top tier outfielder. The third favorite is Bobby Whitt Jr. who is consistently ranked as a top three contender candidate and a major threat to win the AL MVP award.

This MLB season has plenty of good storylines to follow, players to watch, and good games to be played. Don’t miss this season’s opener on March 25th with the Yankees facing off against the San Fransico Giants.
