What is it like coming into high school? Were you nervous or excited? As the 2024-2025 school year begins, a couple freshmen share their thoughts and perspectives on this new adventure.
Freshman Katherine Duracka: I asked Kat if she thinks there is a big difference between middle and high school, in response she stated, “I think there is to a certain degree, in high school you can do more things, but so far, it’s not as different as people make it seem. In middle school we oversee our own things, it’s just more exaggerated. The only big change is socially.”
Freshman Brylie Turner: shared her thoughts too, “Was it hard adjusting to high school?” with, “The longer class periods were definitely harder and something I’m going to have to adjust to, but other than that no.” Brylie also said, “Playing a fall sport eased my nerves for high school, because it allowed me to meet new and older people before school even started.”
Hayden Smolenski: “What were you most excited about coming into high school?” Hayden said, “I was definitely the most excited about high school sports. I play on the boys JV team, and I was excited to meet new people and make new friendships.”
Nathan Bricker: “What were your worries coming into high school?” Nathan replied with, “I was the most nervous about whether I would have friends in my classes, as well as getting lost in the building and being late to my classes.”
So, if you’re an incoming freshman, I hope this gives you reassurance that high school isn’t as bad as it seems. Doing an extracurricular activity can give you more opportunities to meet new peers and get you more involved in the school. It’s an adjustment, but nothing you can’t handle. Welcome to the ‘stang family.
