“You seem pretty sad for a girl so in love” is such a dangerous album title for Olivia Rodrigo. There are so many girls out in the world that could relate to just the album title, let alone Olivia. Olivia has dropped so many good songs that people relate to so much, especially people who have had heart breaks or gotten very hurt from relationships.
She has only dropped one song from the album so far called “drop dead.” This song has such a good beat and is very catchy. A lot of her songs are sad, honestly a little depressing but this song is not that at all. This song talks about young love and obsessing over someone like in the lyrics “one night I was bored in bed and stalked you on the internet” and “the most alive I’ve ever been but kiss me and I might drop dead.”
This song talks about young love but at the same time overthinking, anxiety, and trying to be cool but secretly wanting to commit to a relationship. Some people may think this song makes no sense but to a lot of people it makes perfect sense. An example is she says “I feel like I might throw up left hook, right punch to the gut” that is where she is having anxiety and is overthinking. But the next lines after that is “You’re so, so pretty, boy I’m paranoid I made you up, yeah I’d love it if you walked me home” because then she is back to obsessing over him again.
I interviewed my friend Maddie who loves Olivia Rodrigo. First, I asked her how long she has been listening to her for and she said, “I have been listening to Olivia’s music since 2021 when she became a big artist after her driver’s license drop.” I then asked her if she thinks that a lot of girls relate to her music and she said, “yes especially if you have been hurt from a relationship.” I asked her how she felt about the title you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love and she said, “it is insane there is really no other words for it.”
This song relates to so many people. A lot of girls get very excited about an Olivia Rodrigo song drop and I can tell you I definitely am. I think people who are so in love with someone but so sad should really listen to this album. Olivia is so talented and I’m so excited for the rest of her songs to come out.
