For C Milton Wright varsity lacrosse player Josie Mouring, the sport that shaped her life began unexpectedly early. “I started playing lacrosse when I was in kindergarten just because my parents signed me up for it. My coach decided to put my position on attack, and I instantly fell in love with it,” Mouring said.
Although lacrosse became a big part of her life, she faced challenges along the way, especially with confidence. “A coach I had during club made me feel like every mistake defined my ability to play lacrosse,” she said. “I thought I had to be perfect… I would get so down on myself when I made mistakes.” Over time, however, supportive coaches helped her rebuild her confidence. “My high school coaches and my new club coach made me gain more confidence in myself,” she said. All the high school teammates love her presence on the team, and she always has a way of making people’s days better.
Mouring will continue her lacrosse career at Mount Union after a positive recruiting experience. “Right away, the call was amazing. The coaches made me feel so welcomed… after visiting I knew it was the school I wanted. The team and coaches feel like a family,” she said.
Looking ahead, she is excited for the next chapter. “I am looking forward to making new friends and getting closer with my team. I am also looking forward to winning and making memories,” Mouring said. She also reflected on her time in high school, adding that she will miss her “friends, teammates, teachers, sports games and events.”
From early beginnings to college commitment, Mouring’s journey shows growth, resilience, and a strong love for the game.
