The NFL Draft will take place from April 23-25th in Pittsburgh. This is a very exciting time for many football fans. It is the time that we try to forget the prior season, if it was a disappointing one, and look towards the future season with much anticipation and hope. I thought it would be interesting to make some predictions as to what I think is going to happen for the first five draft picks.
Pick Number 1: LAS VEGAS RAIDERS
This one is obvious: Fernando Mendoza from Indiana. The Raiders desperately need a quarterback, and it’s almost boring how good of a prospect he is. He can do it all, just pick him.
Pick Number 2: NEW YORK JETS
The best pick for the Jets is Arvell Reese from Ohio State. He’s just an amazing linebacker and the Jets need all the help they can get on the defensive side of the ball.
Pick Number 3: ARIZONA CARDINALS
They should pick Francis Mauigoa who played for the Miami Hurricanes. The Cardinals need serious help at offensive tackle because their quarterback situation is not ideal. Francis is known for his strength and quick footwork and reliability, having never missed a game while playing for Miami.
Pick Number 4: TENESSEE TITANS
It would be fun for them to pick Jeremiyah Love from Notre Dame. He is a running back that is known for his speed. This is what is needed as part of the Titans offense. Since the Titans had one of the worst offenses in the NFL during the 2025 season, they are desperate to turn things around, and Love may be the one that can help.
Pick Number 5: NEW YORK GIANTS
With the Jets taking Arvell Reese, the Giants will take the next best linebacker, Sonny Styles. Sonny played for Ohio State and was a large part of the Buckeyes winning the 2024 national championship. Sonny would be an incredible asset and would really help boost their defense.
I interviewed My Dads Friend about if this draft is good and how it will compare to last year.
I asked him how this year was compared to last year. He said, “Not that well, the best player is Jeremiyah love just off pure skill, but in a QB league with an emphasis on passing, that isn’t going to get you much, just like 4th or 5th pick, definitely not the first.”
