The girls’ varsity basketball team here at C. Milton Wright is rebuilding this year. With a 0-5 start to the season, the girls are looking to turn a corner. Losing all five starters last year and a lack of experience, the season has not started off the best. But just last night girls’ basketball got their first win! Beating Northeast by 26 points.
Also having a new D1 commit on the team has thrown a wrench in the works. She went to a private school for high school and now she is at C. Milton. We are all still figuring out how to rebuild and work as a team to be successful.
I interviewed Kiersten Rurka to get her opinion on the season so far. Kierstan says that the season has been going well and that she is learning a lot from this season about herself and her teammates. Like I said before, Kierstan went to private school all high schools except this year, so I asked her what it is like going to public school. And she said it is fine, but she is a lot more used to private school policies and sports being way more competitive. I asked Kierstan if the team is about to turn a corner and she said yes, there are seven games this season that are winnable for us and we have two winnable games coming up this week being Aberdeen and Joppa Towne.
