The gates to the Upside Down are cracking open again, and Season 5 promises to drag its secrets into the light. Stranger Things Season 1 came out on July 15th, 2016. It is confirmed that Season 5 will be the final season after over nine years of watching. The cast has become like a family, and Stranger Things fans are very committed to watching the show and being involved in the plotline.
Season 5 represents the final showdown between characters in the Upside Down such as Vecna, Demogorgons and, everyone in the Right-Side Up who have been fighting for many years. The plotline takes place in late 1987. In this last battle, it will take the full team to come together and beat Vecna.
The final season will be coming out in three different parts. Volume I is the first four episodes. Then, Volume II is the next three episodes. Lastly, Volume III is the stand-alone final episode. Stranger Things made the bold decision to release all new episodes on or near holidays. The first four episodes were released just before Thanksgiving. Then the next three will be released on Christmas. Finally, the finale will be released on New Years Eve. The finale will also be in theaters. The Duffer Brothers chose to release the final season over the holidays to maximize views during downtime.
Now for the interesting part. I put a pole up in our last month’s newspaper for students and faculty to vote on who is most likely to die in the final season. Will was clearly the top choice. With his new gain of powers, it puts a large target on his head. As well as his multiple previous associations with the upside down. But a major question is why would Vecna give him powers just to kill him? Another popular choice for who is most likely to die is Eleven. All of this started with her, so it is likely to end with her.
Stranger Things fans are freaking out about the new and final season as Tiktokers and streamers create crazy theories and fantasize what the ending will entail. Right now, the hottest theory is that all that Vecna has done is based off time and he plans to go back in time and make it where he never killed his family and never met the Mind Flayer. For now, we are just counting down the days until the next two volumes are released.
