After interviewing Eric Tyminski, who is a senior at C Milton Wright, I’ve gathered information about wrestling. Wrestling is one of our school’s many winter sports. The tryouts for all winter sports started on Saturday, November 15th. The first practice was on Wednesday, November 19th. The varsity wrestling coaches include Coach Sweeney and Coach John. Eric would describe the team as “motivated, competitive, and skilled.” Last year, the team went to states to compete. The tournaments are usually located in Ocean City. Eric seconds that the team predicts “they will not perform as well this year compared to how they’ve done in the past because they lost a lot of good seniors that helped them through the season.” Each player will still try their best and not let this affect them and how they play.
Many players choose wrestling as their sport because it’s hard and requires a lot of work. This pushes people to do better and helps them improve the more they practice. Wrestling is good for developing body fitness, mental toughness, and essential life skills like building strength. It’s also a sport that doesn’t require you to compete your whole life to be good. Many players, including Eric, have been competing since their freshman year. Eric states that most wrestlers on the team discovered this sport from “UFC, Mavericks, which is a wrestling club, and entering high school.” Something else Eric mentions is that one thing that motivates the team for each practice is “the feeling of getting better day by day and learning new techniques.”
