Could anything ever top the original? The first Black Phone movie came out on June 24th, 2022. The first movie was extremely popular, making $161 million globally. It is a horror-thriller movie about kidnapping. Many people believe that the first movie was not set up to have a second movie. Kat Duracka a student here at C. Milton Wright stated, “I feel like the first movie was so good, but it was not set up to have a second movie which makes the second feel so farfetched.” 

 I went to see the Black Phone 2 movie in theaters at Horizon Cinemas in Fallston on October 24th. The movie came to theaters on October 17th. It earned over $26 million during its first weekend! It takes place in a snowed-in, fictional Alpine Lake Youth Camp where the main character’s mother used to work. The story takes place four years after the events of the first movie where the main character Finney is now 17 years old and still having PTSD from being kidnapped and almost killed by The Grabber. Black Phone 2 revealed many interesting things to the viewers such as more about Gwen’s who is Finney’s sister. We are given insight on Gwen’s dreams and the hurtful truth of their mother’s death. 

 Many people have said that the second movie provides more character depth into The Grabber, and it has a satisfying ending. Although there are some critics on Reddit who say the second movie was weaker, there is a general consensus that it is a good, suspenseful movie that is worth seeing. I personally recommend to go watch!!
