Imagine the feeling of a marshmallow that never melts, or a cloud that fits in the palm of your hand. Trending in 2026 are the stress-relieving Nee-Dohs. Coming in a variety of colors, types, shapes, and more! Everyone has a Nee-Doh these days. I notice people having them in class, bringing them to sports events, and more.
The brand Nee-Doh was founded around the 2000’s, but the “Groovy Glob” was the first variation of a stress ball and was made in 1968. The brand was called Schylling and was designed as a sensory tool for stress relief. The company has transformed into Nee-Doh and is a hot item on the market.
The types of Nee-Doh include nice cubes, snowballs, spheres, gumdrops, dream drops, splats, popsicles, fuzz balls, ice cream, jellyfish, and more. They come in a variety of sizes and colors. Some stores that tend to stock Nee-Doh’s are Walmart, Hallmark, Target, and Barnes and Noble.
I interviewed Miranda Cherry who loves Nee-Dohs and hunts for them as a hobby. I asked what her favorite Nee-Doh was, and she said she loves all of them, but her favorite is the snowball, but she also likes mini fuzzballs. Since I hear that she goes on hunts for nee-dohs I asked where she goes, she replied with “usually, Walmart restocks on Tuesdays, but my first stop is always hallmark because not a lot of people know that it’s a hot spot yet.” Finally, I asked her when her obsession started happening and she said I saw my friend have a nice cube and now I cannot stop buying them “they are so addicting!”
The science behind the stress relieving nee-dohs is that their dough-like interior provides a satisfying squish that helps ground the nervous system, lower anxiety, and improve focus. Some people believe that this is great that teens are obsessed with these “toys” because they are less stressed in schools. Others believe it is a distraction and kids should not be having toys in school.
I do not have any nee-dohs in my collection yet, but I do plan to buy one in the future for when I am doing homework or just relaxing while watching TV. Like always, something new will come out and nee-dohs will be forgotten but for now, buy before they all sell out!
