Love is in the air, but it’s not always romantic. Valentines can be wonderful, but for most of us it is miserable. In reality of cold, loneliness, and bitterness, we girls have to stick together. Galantines is about the importance of friendship and platonic love. Friendships are often the longest relationships we have, and it is crucial that we celebrate them. Being with your friends takes away from the stress of not having a partner. One of my girlfriends, Miranda Cherry, said “I don’t know how one day I am going to have to care about a guy more than my friends.” Here is a guide for you and your girls to have the best time celebrating being friends.
Food
Food is essential to any gathering. But instead of spending your entire wallet catering for you and your friends…. HAVE A BOARD NIGHT! Each person will bring their own board of food that has a theme. For example, someone could bring a cheese board, and someone could bring a candy board. This is just a fun alternative to buying regular food. For drinks, you can add a fancy touch and have sparkling apple juice to put inside champagne glasses.
Attire
Since we are just with the girls, there must be a pajama only dress code. Imagine how cute the pictures would be with you and all your friends matching in red and pink pajamas. This will also set the chill and cozy vibe for the night. “The pictures we could take would be so cute!” Miranda stated. “If we all match, we could still be cute but also be comfortable.”
Spa time
Before getting into the fun activities, take care of yourselves and each other. Indulge in self-care. Put on face masks, braid hair, fun headbands, mani-pedis, etc. This will help you and your friends focus on yourselves away from negative energy.
Activities
Now it’s time for some fun. To add onto the relaxation of the night, you could binge watch rom-coms or 2000s movies. Miranda stated, “my favorite movies are How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days and Clueless.” Those movies or similar ones seem to be a favorite among female audience. Or if you want to spice up the night, you could play board games, like Monopoly or Clue. Personally, I would argue that Karaoke is essential.
Sentimental Moments
There are many things you can do to ensure everyone feels valued and loved. Exchanging written letters and photo slide shows is a great way to connect deeply with your friends. My favorite option would be to create a memory jar. Everyone will write down their favorite memories with anyone in the group and place them in a jar. Then they can be read out loud and laughed about together!
