Blake Elliott

Remembering Our Friend
Blake Elliott

Originally this article was supposed to be about our friend Blake Elliott winning female athlete of the month at our school C. Milton Wright. Blake was a junior at C. Milton Wright that was on Varsity soccer since the end of freshman year and never went back down after that. She played forward and has played soccer her whole life. Coach Gunter says “Different players have different skill sets. Blake excels at scoring goals. She has composure in the goal box which is very difficult to maintain when it is so chaotic in there. She is always hungry to score, and she has the confidence and ability to do so in any game.” Blake scored six goals in five games and had two assists in the games she played this season. She was one of the best soccer players I have ever met.

On Thursday September 18th, 2025, our dear friend Blake Elliott passed away. She was in a very serious car accident with her boyfriend.  Her boyfriend was flown to the hospital and had many major surgeries, but Blake was not stable enough to get flown. This has been an awful tragedy, but it really has brought our community so close. We have learned so much from this, like the importance of spending time with the people you love and not taking it for granted because you never know when the last time, you’ll be able to talk to someone will be.

I had some of the best memories with Blake. Every single morning, I would put a low braid into her soft brown hair, but if it was gameday she would ask me to do two little braids on the top or one little braid on the top down the middle. She was such a real person; she always told you what you needed to hear, not what you wanted to hear. She has left such an impact on so many people, and I promise you that we will not let her be forgotten.

“Blake was the realest friend I’ve ever had. She pushed me and everyone around her to be the best version of themselves. Although this loss is so hard, I am grateful to have got to know Blake so well. She was a true ray of sunshine and a role model on and off the field. My favorite memory of Blake is her telling me she is gluten free as she takes a huge bite out of a sub. I will forever cherish the amazing memories I was able to share with Blake.” – Lilly Budelis

“Since I was a just an eighth grader, coming to Thursday night conditionings, Blake was who you wanted to be. When I think of her, I just remember how cool she was. The way she played, how she talked and the way she radiated with confidence was different than anybody else. Blake just being her would’ve been enough to be a perfect role model, but she was better. It was rare for someone so confident to be so supportive, but she was the perfect display of the player anyone would want to be. Blake was a friend, a teammate, and a leader to me. Even though losing her is grueling I’ll keep doing what I always have, trying to be like her. Every game we’ll play our hearts out and every day we’ll crack a 67 joke.” – Kat Duracka

Blake Elliott has left such a big impact on everyone, even if you were not close with her.  She was such a good person and will never be forgotten, especially in the soccer world.
