This month, we are excited to showcase Ms. Streett, a loving math and physics teacher at
C. Milton Wright High School. An amazing member of the CMW staff for three years, Ms.
Streett currently teaches Algebra I, Algebra II, and Honors Physics. Her passion includes
hands-on problem-solving, which she uses in every lesson she teaches!
Before becoming a teacher, Ms. Streett worked as a Civil/Environmental Engineer. She
specialized in stream and wetland restoration. Her time as an engineer was spent focusing
on ecological health, but she soon realized her true passion was in teaching! Therefore, her
journey into education began.
Her favorite class to teach is Algebra I. Ms. Streett loves how the concepts apply directly to
the real world and helping students understand the connection between math and
everyday life. This year, she’s also growing to love teaching physics, which she describes
as “a direct application of math to real life.”
Ms. Streett stays involved outside the classroom. She co-teaches the school’s Envirothon
club alongside Mrs. Alexander and also co-manages the CMW Math Instagram page with Mrs. Toepfer!
Outside of school, Ms. Streett is a lover of the outdoors. Whether it’s hiking in a local statepark with her dog, Moxie, or exploring national parks both near and far, she finds peace and inspiration in nature. Her friends and family, she says, motivate her every day to do better
and try new things.
A quote that Ms. Streett often refers to is one that helps with her personal and professional
values: “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall
never sit beneath.” She is drawn to the idea of making positive changes that benefit future
generations, which she does both in her classroom and in her life.
Ms. Streett is a terrific example of what it means to be both a dedicated teacher and a
person who inspires others to grow. We’re lucky to have her at C. Milton Wright! Go
Mustangs!
