Havre de Grace is the perfect small town with charm, from scenic places like the Decoy Museum, the Promenade, and the Susquehanna State Park. Recently, Havre de Grace has announced a
number of construction projects to benefit the town and its people. Some of the most
important projects in the town include the Water Street Living Shoreline Project and the
Downton Restoration Project.
Water Living Shoreline
Completed on July 31st, 2025, Havre de Grace city officials revealed the Water
Street Living Shoreline. Not only did this make the area more scenic, but it also made it
safer for citizens in the town. The main goal of this project is to carry water from the streets
into the sewer lines, which the water is then carried through ravines in the Chesapeake
Bay. The ravines allow the water to be filtered and transported. This can also be beneficial
to wildlife, allowing their water to be filtered and free from litter. Habitats were able to be
produced after 3,400 square feet of pavement from the shoreline was removed. This then
allowed more nature to be acknowledged, including the new 7,000 plants in the area.
Downtown Restoration Project
Still under construction, Havre de Grace is implementing the Downtown
Restoration Project. This project focuses more on the wellbeing of the community. This
project can include a magnitude of things like new sidewalks, more parking spaces, and
brick roadways. This can benefit locals and tourists who struggle to find parking and
accessibility to certain areas of the town. So far, the previous sidewalks have been dug up,
and new ones will be installed.
