The Minecraft movie is one of the biggest things to have happened this year so far, you have most likely seen the chicken jockey reactions common in all of the theaters. But the reactions all have the same underlying theme, that being “this movie is awful, and you shouldn’t watch it.” As a matter of fact, I have heard nothing but a swarm of negativity towards this movie, but does it deserve it? Is the Minecraft movie really that bad?
Before watching this movie, I had already seen a decent number of clips online, as I am sure you have too, so it seemed like every 5 minutes I already knew what line was coming up or what scene was coming up. In general, it was a weird experience. I liked the character of the garbage man played by Jason Momoa, but the movie was entirely predictable, and I found myself increasingly bored as the movie went on.
This movie has made 722 million dollars on a 150 million budget. I think a movie like this should raise questions about how many memes can cause a movie, that doesn’t deserve to make money, to make money.
