The Washington Commanders have gotten lots of hype this season. With the second overall pick in the NFL 2024 Draft, they selected quarterback Jayden Daniels. The Commanders have been known for being one of the worst teams in the league for many years. This year, the Commanders got mostly new staff for their team. Head coach Dan Quinn was hired to coach the Commanders and is doing a tremendous job. Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury was also included with the Commanders, working with Jayden. Adam Peters is the General Manager for the team and the new owner of the team is Josh Harris.
The new staff have been crucial to starting the teams run here in Washington, and their hard work has paid off. The one thing the Commanders have been struggling with has been achieving a phenomenal quarterback. If you think about it, Kirk Cousins was the latest player to fill that position before Jayden Daniels. Any new quarterback often turned out horrible. Once Jayden was selected, and the team started gaining chemistry with his offense, the Commanders started turning around. Players from other teams have secretly been reported talking about wanting to join the team. Wide Receiver Terry McLaurin has been through it all. He is feeling his love for the team again ever since Jayden joined this year. Terry has been with the team since 2019 when the Commanders struggled to find a strong quarterback. Terry was not able to showcase his talent, and many players wanted to leave the team because there was no progress.
Jayden Daniels has broken multiple rookie stats such as, most rushed yards as a rookie quarterback, most rushing yards in a season by a rookie quarterback, completion percentage of 69%, yards per attempt by a rookie quarterback, passing first down completion, and has won rookie of the week 10 times this season. This is a huge accomplishment for him. This team has struggled to win for years. The last time the Commanders won a playoff game was 2006. Jayden was 5 years old when this occurred, and when Jayden joined, he showed so much love for the team to help them accomplish the team’s goals. Jayden finished the regular season with a record of 12-5. Last year quarterback Sam Howell finished the regular season of 4-13 and did not make it to the playoffs. The Commanders were the underdogs in the playoffs this year. They lost to the Eagles 55-23 in the NFC Divisional Round. Time will tell what this team must bring in the coming seasons.
