Justin Tucker is a very well-known and respected kicker, holding a couple NFL records. He is considered by most to be the greatest kicker of all time. He has kicked the longest field goal at 66 yards; he also holds the highest completion percentage out of any kicker at 89.9 percent. With all this success, recently he has been coming under some controversy.
On January 30th, Justin Tucker was accused of inappropriate behavior with several massage therapists. These accusations have spanned from 2012-2016. They said Justin Tucker would ask them to rub his pelvis and get close to his private areas. 16 therapists would come out to talk about these allegations they held against Tucker. The NFL has faced much criticism for their handling of any kind of assault both sexual and physical/domestic. Main example of this is how they handled the Deshaun Watson situation. They chose to suspend him for less than a season after 24 different women accused him of sexual assault. Even after this, Watson continues to play football even through much criticism.
Justin Tucker has gone out and said these accusations are false, but there is much evidence to say he is guilty. Many people believe he is guilty, but let’s look at the facts. At this point, he has six accusations. These women all share a very similar story, and the Baltimore Ravens have released him, saying it was a hard but necessary decision. Many people say the Ravens’ releasing Tucker is proof that more evidence is going to be released that proves he’s guilty. If this is true, it is not confirmed, but it does raise many questions.
This situation has sent a ripple across the NFL fanbase, many people saying that they shouldn’t release Tucker because he has not been proven innocent or guilty. Many others say that he should be released, purely based on the fact that he has been accused. Whatever you think, this is a terrible situation, no matter if it’s true or not.
