Talented is one of many words to describe our very own Mustang, senior Alexander Curry. He holds key characteristics setting him different from the rest. From his dedication on the football field, fearlessness when hurdling, or his skill on the double bass, Curry’s abilities are admirable.
The many hours Curry spent on the field for Friday Night Lights grew his love for the sport of football. But something that he appreciated most was the engagement the cheerleaders had with the crowd, allowing the energy to rise, and the Varsity Football team to succeed. Being surrounded by the aura the cheerleaders held was captivating to Curry.
Alex Curry is a former defensive end for the Varsity Football team. As the 2024 season has come to an end, he has left a remarkable performance, that will forever be remembered along with thrilling stats. He was awarded the Defensive Player of the Year. He was also recognized by the coaches from Cecil and Harford County that were in collaboration with the Sports Weekly to be selected as the one of the defensive ends for the All- Chesapeake Football Team.
Everyone knew him as a football player, hurdler and great person to surround yourself with, but during the Homecoming pep rally a new side of him was revealed. Curry with six others came together to represent the Senior Class in the annual Lip Sync battle. He showcased his strength, rhythm, and his moves like Rhianna, leaving the crowd speechless, continuing to want more.
Curry gives us an insight on what sparked the passion for this new journey, “since elementary school I’ve always wanted to tumble and do gymnastics and seeing I can do that in cheer opened an opportunity.” Not only did he want to better his talents, but he wanted to make himself proud, “my friends and the cheerleaders gave me the confidence to join, and I love it. Little me is so proud and happy seeing me do what I’ve always wanted to do.”
Senior Alex Curry signifies the true importance of staying true to who you are. Now we can’t see him thrive in this new chapter of his life.
