Let’s start with the girls’ team, under the guidance of Coach Andrew Harrell and Assistant Coach Brian Gunter had an impressive season this year. The team had a strong defense and a dynamic offense. They consistently performed the best they could to beat their opponents. Star players such as Midfielder Delainey Proctor, Defender Ava Lewis, Defender Mackenzi Milich and Forward Emma Jankowiak have been pivotal in the team’s success, showcasing their talent and determination in every game.
The boys’ team, led by Coach Eric Riedlbauer and Assistant Coach James Smymioudis had shown remarkable resilience and skill on the field. Their journey to the finals was nothing short of spectacular, with a series of thrilling matches that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Key players like Senior Forward Axel Lorenzo, Senior Goalkeeper Dylan Sander, and Senior Defender Connor Scurti have been instrumental in securing crucial victories, displaying outstanding athleticism and leadership
As the state final’s approach, excitement and anticipation are building within the community. Supporters are rallying behind both teams, eager to see them bring home the championship titles. The state finals will not only be a test of their skills but also an opportunity to demonstrate the unity and spirit of C. Milton Wright High School.
Unfortunately, the girls’ soccer team fell short with a 2-0 loss against Queen Annes. It was an emotional game and a huge battle that was left on the field by all players. Very upsetting moment but all players and coaches are proud of becoming state finalist and being able to take it to the very last game you could ever go. Meanwhile, the boys’ team is your 2A state champions! The boys versed Parkside were undefeated the whole season until Saturday. The boys honored the loss of Evan Snyder with the state championship and Kai Cempura scored with 20 minutes left in the game which was Evan Snyder’s number. The team all played for him; it was an emotional game for the team. All smiles were on the field. Congratulations to both teams this year!
