Large storms, heavy rains and winds. All these, among other things make up the bulk of a hurricane. Florida, which is known for its hurricanes, has been hit by two, one being hurricane Milton. Milton started off as a category 5, one of the largest and most potentially dangerous hurricanes we’ve ever seen. Was it as dangerous as it was supposed to be?
When Hurricane Milton was building up steam in the Gulf of Mexico, it had so much power that it was impossibly large. It had the potential to destroy many cities and towns in Florida and other states. People locked up and protected their homes and fled their cities. The few who stayed horded food, gas, and other supplies in hopes to wait out the storm. There was a news story about a man nicknamed “Lt Dan.” He was a boat owner in Florida who claimed that God told him to stay on his boat during the storm; he said he would be the next Noah from the Bible. Later, after the storm had passed, the news checked on him, finding him alive and well in his boat. Unfortunately, many people weren’t as lucky.
When it comes to the damage and death toll, it was higher than the average hurricane. Over 30 people have died and more than 5 people are missing. This is a tragic loss of life that really affects the local populations around Florida. The damage toll was even larger than the death toll, being called one of the most expensive hurricanes in U.S history. The cost being over 30 billion USD. This storm has truly devastated all the local communities it has hit. These hurricanes are no joking matter for the locals in the area, many of these people losing their homes and everything they own. Sometimes, the worst case scenario is they lose their life. These people have to build themselves back up after losing everything they own. A truly devastating situation for the people who get caught up in the storm.
