Imagine a classroom buzzing with excitement as students prepare to embark on a unique adventure—an in-school poetry slam field trip. Mrs. Christ created an exciting Poetry Slam event on March 28th, offering students a chance to step out of their comfort zones and onto the stage. Here, young poets share their original works, express their deepest thoughts, and connect with their peers in a celebration of creativity and spoken words.
On this half day, poets were offered a breakfast buffet in the CMW cafeteria so performers could energize their brains. After poets were done eating, there were multiple student leaders that created activities for the first period. There was a snowball fight, post-secret, rock painting and more! Once the second period came, poets were sent to the CMW Library to do more optional activities with small groups.
After all poets were done writing, participants were sent to the Auditorium to “Poetry Slam” their work. Students were able to share poems, songs or stories in front of an audience. There was music, emcee acts and a cute setting for our poets to read out. It was an amazing moment for creative writers and let students share things they’ve kept or made. It’s an amazing experience and Mrs. Christ would love to do it again!
