Megan Moroney, the new rising country star. I like to think that Megan is Taylor Swift if she stayed country, which is a big compliment.
I got the pleasure of seeing Megan in concert in March at Radio City Music Hall in NYC with my friend Lanie.
If you are a fan of Megan Moroney, you probably know that her signature color is royal blue, due to her newest album being royal blue. Of course that was the mandatory dress code, blue sparkly dresses and cowgirl boots, and I wore exactly that. Once we started walking to the concert the streets of NYC were just filled with teenage girls and white cowgirl boots. Everywhere you looked there was a pair of cowgirl boots.
Once Lanie and I got into the concert we were stunned at how long the merch line was. Mind you, we got there almost two hours early and almost everything was sold out. It was disappointing because we wanted something, but it wasn’t worth waiting in line for hours just for an $80 sweatshirt. I looked on Megan Moroney’s website thinking maybe that it had a sweatshirt I could order on it, but it didn’t. Hopefully soon she will add more merch!
Our seats were the farthest row possible, like top tier and back on the wall kind of seats. It was ok though because Radio City Music Hall isn’t a huge venue. It would’ve been different if it was an arena and we were in the top row. That would’ve been bad.
Everyone around us was so nice, offered to take pictures and complimented us. It was a very accepting environment. Once the concert started at 8:00pm the openers came out for an hour, which felt like ages because I just wanted to see Megan. The openers were very good though. One of their openers’ names was Patrick Droney. There were 20 extra minutes between the openers and Megan coming out, so we got to sing along to some classic songs like old Taylor Swift and some Disney too. Megan came out around 9:15 and the crowd was electric. Everyone didn’t know if they should sing or scream, me included.
My favorite song that she performed was probably Noah. It has been number 1 song from her Am I Okay? Album, so getting to scream it in person with her right in front of me was surreal. The crowd got to vote on a surprise song for her to sing and Wonder won the vote. Megan said that Wonder had been picked every show so far so maybe she just needs to add it to her set list. Towards the end of the show Megan crowns a “Miss Am I Okay tour” which is a fan who her team selects from the crowd. This night they selected this super cute little girl, and she got to go up on stage and hug Megan. It was so sweet. One of the last songs she sang was Girls, the song is about best friends and how life would be much harder without them. Megan had everyone put their arms around each other and sing along. It was so loud but so beautiful. One of the last songs Megan sang blue and white confetti popped. Sadly, we were so high up that the confetti didn’t reach us. At least we could see it.
As soon as Megan left the stage, we booked it out of Radio City Music Hall. We knew it was just going to be a herd of people coming outdoors and if you are not super familiar with NYC it is pretty easy to get lost. The guys blasting music ready to give you a bike ride, all the police, and all the people were just so overwhelming it kind of felt like a movie but not in the best way. We finally found our parents and walked back to the hotel. Let’s just say my feet were in a lot of pain.
I got right in bed because I was spent from that concert, and I also had to rest up because we were walking around NYC the next day.
On top of the concert, it made for a great sightseeing trip too. Overall, I would see Megan again but maybe a little closer next time.
