If you are tired of the same old comedy shows and rom coms, I highly recommend the chilling docuseries “American Murder: Gabby Petito,” on Netflix. The series consists of three episodes that go over the confusing and elaborate timeline leading to her murder. But before you watch, here is some background information on what happened.
Gabby Petito was a 22-year-old girl from Blue Point New York, who decided in July of 2021 to embark on her van life trip with her fiancé Brian Laundrie. They planned it to be a four-month trip to many national parks across the country. They started a YouTube vlog page to display their fun adventures and alternative lifestyle.
Gabby is portrayed as a very fun loving and adventurous person, and her relationship seemed sweet and perfect from the outside. However, their trip ended abruptly when her fiancé Brian Laundrie murdered her in Bridger-Teton National Forest, Wyoming in September of 2021.
Unfortunately, her family and friends can’t get full answers because after police found skeletal remains in Myakkahatchee Creek, Environmental Park in Florida, DNA evidence found that it was Brian Laundrie; and the cause of death was suicide by a gunshot wound. There is still speculation on whether the remains were really Laundrie’s or not.
Her family and friends now go around to schools and founded the Gabby Petito Foundation to raise awareness for domestic violence. Watch the Netflix docuseries to hear more of the horrifying details of the murder and decide for yourself if you think Laundrie is still out there.
