Supermercado Campos is very different from other restaurants I have reviewed before; it is a lot smaller and a lot less well-known, and it serves Latin American food, a food I do not really eat that much of. It is in the middle of a supermarket, so you can miss the restaurant aspect of it. It was not very busy, and we went to the front to order; there was no server, and I bought a few bags of foreign chips from the store while waiting for my food.
I got steak tostadas, and my friend John Rooker got a cheese quesadilla. I liked John’s quesadilla and will get that the next time I go; it was so hot, and he put Pico de Gallo on it, and it was probably one of the best quesadillas I have ever had. Even now I can faintly smell it.
My steak tostadas arrived around 5 minutes after the cheese quesadillas, and I was kind of put off by the fact that they arrived in a boat and appeared to be just meat and a shell with a bunch of cheese and lettuce on top of it. In fact, it appeared as if it came from the CMW cafeteria, and I found the taste to be bland and boring.
But despite the overall disappointment of the steak tostados i found the quesadilla so good that I would still recommend it.
I live around 20 minutes away from Supermercado Campos, and it may be out of the way for you too, but I would thoroughly recommend it. It is great Latin American food.
