Bourbon Street is a historic street in New Orleans and is one of the main attractions of all of the city and is often what many first think of when they think of the city.
On January 1st, 2025, a truck ran through Bourbon Street, killing 15 people and injuring 57, an unimaginable act of violence that left all wondering what motive would cause something like this. A few hours later it was revealed that the attacker (a man named Shamsud Din Jabbar) had identified with the motives of ISIS, a terrorist organization, and that just hours prior, Jabbar had posted to social media expressing a deep desire to kill someone, making this an act of terrorism (though ISIS has not claimed responsibility for the attack).
This attack has led to an outpouring of love and support from around the world for the people of New Orleans and led to the suspension of the Sugar Bowl between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
This attack has also led to a call for better gun checks around the world, and hopefully this can lead to some changes within the government.
