C.Milton Wright strives to be inclusive and welcoming to all people. Best Buddies incorporates both of these traits. Once a month the Best Buddies club meets up for the sole purpose of friendship and having fun. Best buddies is able to unite students with and without disabilities and allow them to build friendships through fun activities. Here at CMW, best buddies is led by president Emma Jankowiak and vice president Rilee Machala. The teacher advisor is Mrs. Larson.
The club gets to do a number of fun things throughout the year. In October, the club kicked off with a trunk or treat where buddies got to get their favorite candy from spooky decorated cars. In November, the club took part in a Thanksgiving trivia and made hand turkeys. Through games and crafts, everyone in the club can have fun. We can’t wait for the next seasonal activity the club has in store for December.
The club has positive effects on students with and without disabilities. Sean Madden is a student new to the club this year. When asked about his experience he said he enjoyed spending time with his best friend Heather as well as making many more friends. Luna Musto, a communications officer for the club, expresses that she appreciates the message behind the club and loves her task of sharing the activities they do on social media.
If you are interested in joining best buddies next year, look out for information posted on their Instagram, ( bb.cmw) where they post updates, fundraisers, as well as the application link at the beginning of the school year. Go support!
