Homecoming week is an exciting time for students to show their school spirit and be creative. Throughout the week various themed days are planned, from dress to impress or dress to unimpress, duo/trio day, minion day, and class colors. Annabelle Lathroum, a student at C Milton, shares her thoughts on this year’s spirit week, “I think that some of the choices are good, but I wish there were more days. Since our homecoming is on a Friday this year, it only leaves us with four days to dress up.” Annabelle is right about the shorter week, although it allows us to make the best of it and go all out, especially for the pep rally.
The final step to get the ‘stang nation as hype as it can be is to pack the stadium for the pep rally. The pep rally is an energetic and fun event that boosts enthusiasm and support for the fall sport teams. It features performances by the cheerleading squad, band, and even includes a lip sync battle, where the students get to pick the winner of their choice. Sophie Murie, a participant in the lip sync battle, shares that, “The seniors usually win the lip sync battle, but this year the juniors have it in the bag!” Later that night, the Mustangs take on the Joppa Towne Mariners. Where the student section will be wearing their class colors and cheering loud and proud in hopes of coming out with a win, which of course they did. The mustangs won 24-12nas the energy remained.
Homecoming offers students a chance to dress up, dance, and enjoy a fun night with their peers. It’s a time for students to make memories and share special moments with their friends. The theme for this year’s homecoming is a night in the garden where it will be held in the gymnasium. Our homecoming includes a Dj who will set the mood and will keep the energy high the entire night. The Dj will play popular hits and take request from students, allowing students to dance to their favorite songs. Homecoming court is a significant part of the homecoming tradition. It features a group of students who are recognized for their leadership skills and contributions to the school community. The court included nominees who are chosen by fellow teachers at C Milton Wright. Our Homecoming Court includes Carley Jenhert, Alexandra Carven, Sarah Carven, Kendal Faber, Esther Hong, Alyssia Lenhart, Jordan Miller, Ana Moiduski, Mackenzie Pavlista, Aubrye Simms, Brooks Benson, Alex Curry, Zach Curry, Jack Geyer, Kandin Lligan, Landon Krepps, Axel Lorentzen, Brayden Ruby, Aden Taylor, Nate Whetzel. The dance is on October 18th and goes from 7 to10. I asked student president, Kenzi Pavlista, what student government did to prepare for this year’s homecoming, she replied with, “We focused on the school spirit expect, enforcing a new process for determining spirit weeks to get more student involvement in dressing up. We also created new games for the pep rally to create happy memories for every grade level!”
In conclusion, homecoming is a cherishing event with a fun week leading up to it …. Homecoming helps students get involved in the C Milton Wright community and make memories that will last them a lifetime. The winners of this year’s homecoming court were Kenzi Pavlista and Jack Geyer. This homecoming was one to remember and I can’t wait for next year!
