A lot of people are talking about First Watch, but is it worth the hype? That’s what we wanted to find out. First, we tried to set up a reservation, but unfortunately, they don’t take them, so we put ourselves in the waiting line. We arrived at 10:26 am and had to wait outside with other families for a little more than an hour, which was not the most enjoyable, but they were very crowded, so we do not blame the staff. It was nice outside, but once it gets to wintertime, people are not gonna to want to sit outside. The store had a nice modern feel to it, with a sit-down juice bar. Our server’s name was Alex, and he was genuinely nice.
While waiting, we all looked at the menu and picked out what we wanted. We saw these salted caramel donut holes on the website, but unfortunately, they were not available because the restaurant is still new, which is disappointing but understandable. We got the same coffee, which is honey-flavored coffee, caramel sauce in the cup, cold foam, and a heath bar on top, which was great and had an excellent presentation. Drew got the Belgian waffles, which came with strawberry jam, but he had to ask for a side of syrup along with the side of bacon. The waffle was fresh and hot, the bacon was nice and crispy, and the jam was refreshing. I got the “Chickichanga,” which is eggs, chicken chorizo, green chiles, two kinds of cheese, onions, and avocado rolled in a flour tortilla, but he took the avocados off. This also came with a side of roasted, seasoned potatoes and onions, which were amazing. I thought it was great; the tortilla was crispy, and the chilis added a nice spice, but the sauce on top was too sweet for him. I threw the meal off but did not ruin it. Drew’s mother got a ham sandwich and a sweet honey pecan salad. And she had no complaints. All the prices were fair; between the 3 of us, the total was $54, making each meal on average $18, which is not outrageous considering the portions.
Overall, we enjoyed our time, though the wait was a bit long, but I think that once the hype dies down, so will the wait, and the experience will be a very gratifying one. We recommend the restaurant fully!
