Being a senior must be great. It’s your last year of high school and getting ready for
adulthood, but what is it like? Are they excited, are they scared? That’s what I wanted to
know, and that’s what drove me to interview seniors at the beginning and the end of the
year and see what they’re excited for this year, and a look at there previous years at C.
Milton Wright.
adulthood, but what is it like? Are they excited, are they scared? That’s what I wanted to
know, and that’s what drove me to interview seniors at the beginning and the end of the
year and see what they’re excited for this year, and a look at there previous years at C.
Milton Wright.
First, I interviewed Zach Curry, here’s what he said, he’s most excited to play against bel
air, on the varsity football team this year, which I’m sure a ton of us are excited to watch.
The Bel air rivalry is a long-lasting tradition, so it makes sense why he’s so excited for it.
He said his favorite classes in CMW were Ms. Jones English class, and 10th Grade
Spanish. One thing he wishes he could though, is more spirit days, and I personally
must agree, they are really fun and get the school spirits up, but we barely have them.
Zach said the most memorable thing in his time in CMW was his 10th grade English
class, because of how much fun it was.
After Zach, I interviewed my friend Reed, who’s a fellow staff member of the pony
express and asked him the same questions, along with the other interviewees. Reed
said the best part of his senior year, is half days, and how convenient it is to have
half days and go to Harford community college for classes, or go to work at his job,
Redners after school, but also expresses how he wish he took online HCC classes, so he
had more free time. Reed’s most memorable moment at CMW was the last day of his
freshman year, stating that there were 4 or 5 fights just in that day. When asked if he could
go back to any year, and what would he do differently, he said he would go back to
freshman year and change his haircut.
After him, I decided to talk to my friend Malachai. Malachai, like
others are, is most excited to graduate, and said there are no particular classes he’s
going to miss, but he will miss all his teachers when he sadly, but surely leaves. He said
one thing he wishes he could change is getting closer, talking more to staff/admin. He
said that he will forever the football games, and screaming his heart out for the
mustangs. When asked the same last question, he also answered freshman year, but
said he would change his outfits.
Lastly, I figured I’d interview my dear friend Bryce. He is most excited for prom, because
it’s a once in lifetime thing, and doesn’t happen twice. Two classes he’s going to miss
are pre-college math, and History with Mr. Randle, because of all the funny memories
he made in that class, and because of our recently retired teacher/coach, Mr. Randle.
One thing he wishes he could do differently, is focused on his grades these past years
so he could’ve taken half days this year. He said if he could go bac to any year, he
would go back to freshman year and “Lock in” on his grades.
That’s our look into senior year so far, but make sure to keep an eye out at the end of
the year for the recap!
