completely wrong about half the teams I talk about. But I am going to try to give an
honest outlook of each NFL team and try to predict how the rest of the season will fare
for the 32 teams that occupy the NFL.
San Fracisco 49ers:
The 49ers would start the NFL season strong after dominating the new look New York
Jets in a Monday night football game. Riding high into week 2, the 49ers would meet
their match with the Minnesota Vikings. Despite being heavily favored on the road, the
Vikings would shoot up deep TDs to create enough of a lead to defeat the 49ers.
Despite being 1-1 I am still confident that the 49ers can be a top 5 team at the end of
the season.
Chicago Bears:
The Bears are another team that has had its early ups and downs. In week one, the
Bears defense and special teams would score 24 unanswered points to come back from
a 17-0 deficit against the Titans. Week 2 would tell a similar story, while Chicago’s
defense would hold the explosive Texans to only 19 points, their offense would only
muster up 13 points. I think Chicago can be a pretty good team this year, but if they
can’t figure out their offense it might be another long season for the Chicago faithful.
Cincinnati Bengals:
The whole lead up and early season has been anything but boring, in the preseason,
star wide receiver Jamaar Chase would enter a contract holdout and refuse to practice
until a few weeks before the season opener. In said season opener, the heavily favored
Bengals would fall to the Patriots in which Cincinatti could only score 1 TD against one
of the worst teams in the league. Week 2 would be much better for Cincinatti as they
fought the Chiefs to the very end, but a late pass interference flag would set the chiefs
up to win by one point 25-26 to be exact. Despite a 0-2 start the Bengal’s still seem to
be serious contenders for the AFC North title.
Buffalo Bills:
Buffalo has come in and showed what they are made of early in this season. In week
one they would find themselves down 17-7 against a solid Arizona team. Josh Allen
short week. The bills would respond to this challenge by destroying the dolphins 31-10
on primetime television. Buffalo hasn’t lost a step from last season, expect them to
remain contenders.
Denver Broncos:
After two weeks of play, it’s hard to argue that Denver doesn’t look like one of the worst
teams in the league right now. In their season opener, rookie QB Bo Nix would throw 2
costly INTs which would allow the seahawks to slip by Denver. In the following week,
Denver’s offense would amount to 6 points against a weaker Steelers team. Losing 6-
13. Denver was not expected to be a good team by any stretch, but this is a rough start
for the team.
Cleveland Browns:
Another team with shaky results early in the season. Despite being 1-1, the Browns
have a lot of questions about what kind of team they want to be. In their week 1 home
opener against the Cowboys, they would show no fight against the Dallas squad losing
33-17. In their most recent showing, Cleveland’s defense would wake up, allowing the
Jaguars only 13 points in their 18-13 W. QB Deshaun Watson has looked like the worst
QB in the NFL having a passer rating below 50 in both games, Cleveland will continue
to need their defense to step it up to win in this league.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers:
The AFC south champs have started the season how most team would like to start, 2-0.
In their season opener against the commanders, the Bucs would kick start their offense
by scoring 37 points on the young Washington defense. Week 2 would provide a
challenge given that Tampa Bay would be heading on the road to play the team that
eliminated them last season. Despite those challenges, Tampa Bay would slow down
the Lions offense and get a close win 20-16. The Bucs have a chance to be a sneaky
contender in the NFC.
Arizona Cardinals:
performance against the Bills keeps me from saying this team is ready to compete for a
championship. I think we need more time to figure this team out before saying anything.
Los Angeles Chargers:
After a very disappointing 2023-24 season the Chargers have taken no time to try to put
themselves back in playoff contention. They would start the season with a strong
defensive performance against the Raiders winning the game 10-22. They would follow
up with a very strong preformance against the Panthers winning 26-3. Justin Herbert
should be getting his flowers as he is the only driving force behind the Chargers
offense. If their defense can continue to give strong performances, don’t be surprised to
see LA in playoff contention.
Kansas City Chiefs:
Another season means another chance for the Chiefs to win three straight super bowls.
The reigning champs would show their strength against a great Ravens team winning
the primetime game 20-27. The following week would entail another nail biter with
Kansas City controversial kicker Harrison Butker knocking down the game winning field
goal, to move the Chiefs past the Bengals 25-26. I raise questions about the officiating
during these two games, with the Chiefs getting crucial calls to go their way at the
perfect time.
Indianapolis Colts:
The colts were one of the teams I was most excited about watching this season and I
have not been disappointed. To open the season the Colts would play the Texans in a
close nail biter ending with the Texans sliding past the Colts in a 29-27 game.
Indianapolis would have a chance to rebound against a Packers team that is missing
their starting QB. Turnovers would ruin a winnable game for the Colts, and they find
themselves in a 0-2 hole early in the season. If this team can clean up their mistakes,
they could easily be a top team this season.
Dallas Cowboys:
week one game the Cowboys would be flying all over the field to disrupt and give a
Browns team more than they could handle. Despite a very dominant win in week 1 the
Cowboys would find themselves on the receiving end of a blowout as they found
themselves losing to the Saints, 44-19. I don’t know how to feel about this team until
they find some consistency.
Miami Dolphins:
The dolphins season might be over before it really even started. In week one the team
would rally back from a 17-7 deficit to win 17-20 and hopes were high for the next game
against the Bills. The game would be an ugly defeat on primetime with the Dolphins
losing 31-10. But the focus of this segment is not about the games, rather the health of
QB Tua Tagovailoa. The QB would face 3 concussions in the 2022 season, and many
tried to convince Tua to hang his cleats up and retire. Tua would continue to play in
2023 suffering 0 injuries and leading the team to an 11-6 finish. But in their game
against the Bills Tua would suffer his 4th concussion. Many have called for Tua to retire
and if he does, that will probably eliminate any chance for the Dolphins to compete for a
playoff spot this season.
Philadelphia Eagles:
A lot of pressure to win surrounded the Eagles after a disappointing 2023 season. A
new addition, Saquon Barkley would add more pressure for the team to win big. The
team would not disappoint in week one, handling the Packers in Brazil. The Eagles
would get a long break to play the Falcons in their home opener. Things were looking
good until late in the game where the Eagles failed to convert on a 3rd and short forcing
them to Kick a FG. Giving the Falcons enough time to come back and win on the road in
primetime.
Atlanta Falcons:
I had concerns about this team heading into week 2 after a very tough loss against a
meh Steelers team. Most of my concerns would fade away after a great performance in
a tough environment against the Eagles. This team has a lot to show later in the
season, but I am gaining confidence in this team.
New York Giants:
QB Daniel Jones would chuck up 2 INTs leading to a 28-6 loss. Following that loss, the
Giants would play in a boring game against another struggling team. The Giants would
muster up 18 points in a solid effort, but it would not be enough to beat the commanders
who would win 18-21. If this team keeps losing, maybe they can get a new QB!
Jacksonville Jaguars:
The Jaguars had high hopes for this season but said hopes might be dashed if this
team continues to play the way they are. In their first game victory seemed all but
certain, until the Jacksonville offense hit a wall scoring 0 points in the second half,
allowing the Dolphins to come back and win 17-20. In the following week they would
battle back and forth with the Browns, but a late game safety and other offensive
miscues would lead the Jaguars to drop another close game losing 13-18. I feel that the
Jaguars could easily be 2-0 if a few situations went their way.
New York Jets:
The new-look Jets have been the talk of the NFL during the offseason. In their opening
game, everything would go wrong in a rough 19-32 loss against the 49ers. And things
were looking shaky to start week two Aswell. The Jets found themselves down 10-0
early in their match against the Titans. The Jets would finally wake up and outscore the
Titans by 17 points to help them reach 1-1.
Detroit Lions:
The scrappy Detroit team started with a close win over the LA rams in a playoff
rematch. The lions would also play the Bucaneers in another playoff rematch, but this
one would not go to plan with Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers would get the best of Detroit
which would lead to a 1-1 start.
Green Bay Packers:
The Packers would kick off their season in rough fashion, losing to the Eagles in Brazil
but more importantly, losing starting QB Jordan Love to injury, backup QB Malik Willis
would prove himself to be good enough to beat the Titans in the Packers home opener.
Carolina Panthers:
Another season means another 17 weeks of misery for the North Carolina faithful. The
Panthers would open their season to a 10-47 loss to the Saints, their following game
would result in another pitiful loss to the Chargers 26-3. The opening games caused a
lot of conflict within the organization, even resulting in the benching of former 1st overall
pick Bryce Young. It seems like this team cannot avoid being terrible.
New England Patriots:
Going into the season, many analysts deemed New England to be one of the lower
teams in the NFL totem pole. But New England would Suprise many by defeating the
heavily favored Bengals on the road. In week 2, New England would take the Seahawks
to overtime on the road. Despite losing the game, New England has shown life that
many other teams have yet to show.
Las Vegas Raiders:
The Raiders would come into the season as one of the teams I was very exicited to
observe, they have an amazing defensive line, headlined by stars like Max Crosby and
Christian Wilkins. Week one would present the offensive struggles for the Raiders, only
scoring 10 points in a loss to the division rival Chargers. Week 2 was looking bleak by
the 3rd quarter with the ravens leading 13-23 with 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The
Raiders would find some late game magic and score 13 unanswered points finishing the
comeback and winning the game 26-23. This team has shown their ability to deal with
adversity which will help them later in the season.
Los Angeles Rams:
The Rams came into the season with high hopes after a late season push for a playoff
berth in 2023. The Rams would have a chip on their shoulder playing against the team
that elimnated them in the playoffs last year. But that would prove to be futile against
the Lions losing the season opener. Week 2 would be an opportunity for the team to
bounce back on the road against the Cardinals, a bounce back would be the least of the
Rams worries once the game kicked off. The Cardinals dismantled the Rams 10-41.
Starting 0-2 is not optimal for the Rams if they have any plans on winning the division.
detail. Baltimore heading into the season was one of my personal picks to head to the
Superbowl. New addition Derrick Henry was meant to spark Balitmore’s offense into a
new unit that would give defenses immense struggle. It would be a tough but winnable
game on the road against Kansa City. Baltimore was primed to come into arrowhead
and get revenge for the AFC championship. The game would go back and forth until a
late drive in the 4th quarter where Baltimore got stood up at the goal line and suffered a
crushing loss. Week 2 would serve as a potential bounce back for the Ravens as they
were playing a much worse Raiders team, and it would be Baltimore’s home opener.
After leading 13-23 early in the 4th quarter, Baltimore’s offense would sputter out giving
the Raiders enough time to come back and win. I have a lot of questions about the
legitimacy of this team but for now I’m not ready to make a steady prediction on this
team.
Washington Commanders:
The young Commanders team didn’t have high hopes heading into the season. And I
haven’t seen anything to change my mind on that statement. Week one would entail a
blowout loss to the Buccaneers. Week two would show that this team could fight with a
back-and-forth fight with the Giants, but Washington’s defense would do enough to beat
New York 18-21.
New Orleans Saints:
I don’t think anyone in the world could predict how dominant the saints have been.
Week one would start this year with a 10-47 win over the Panthers. But that’s the
Panthers the real test would be going on the road against the competent Cowboys. The
Saint would destroy the Cowboys 44-19. The Saints are serious contenders in the NFC
and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see them late in the playoffs.
Seattle Seahawks:
The Seahawks are currently in the undefeated club, and I’m not surprised. Despite a
rough 2023 season, Seattle would open against two easier opponents at home. Starting
with Seattle’s defense beating up on a Broncos offense lead by a rookie QB. The
following week would be against a slow patriot’s offense in which Seattle would win 20-
performance.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
Despite starting 2-0 I don’t feel very confident in Pittsburgh. In week one they would
have a very strong defensive performance against a solid Falcon’s offense. The
defense would continue to show out with another strong performance against the
Broncos. They are 2-0 but I don’t know if they can keep this up against an opponent
with a good offense.
Houston Texans:
The Houston fans finally have hope. After years of misery this team has finally shown
some real talent. In a close battle against the division rival Colts, the Texans would stay
steady throughout the entire game. Finishing with a 29-27 road win. Week 2 would
showcase the defensive might of Houston by holding the Bears to 13 points and winning
the game. Get excited if you are a Houston fan.
Tennessee Titans:
The Titans could very easily be 2-0 and this segment would be worder very differently.
But alas the Titans seem content with losing momentum and blowing big leads. Week
one would start with a 17-0 lead against the Bear until Chicago decided to start caring
scoring 24 unanswered points none of which came from their offense. Week two would
tell a similar story, leading 0-10 against the Jets, the Titans blew another lead, getting
outscored 24-7 and promptly losing 24-17. If Tennessee wants to compete this season
they need to finish games.
Minnesota Vikings:
Another team that has beaten the odds to go 2-0. Early in the preseason projected
starting QB, JJ Mccarthy would tear his ACL, taking him out for the season, backup QB
Sam Darnold would have a chip on his shoulder to prove that he can run an NFL
offense. As cool as watching a backup QB beat the odds is, the Viking’s defense would
be the real star of the show, holding the Giants to 6 points of offense in week 1 and in
