Girls & Boys LAX Teams Prepare For A Strong Season
LAX is Back

Spring sports are now in full swing, with the girls’ and boys’ lacrosse teams gearing up for their season opening games. Both teams will play South Carroll on Friday, with the girls playing at home while the boys head on the road.

The girls’ lacrosse team, coached by Faye Brust and Brittany Rhodes, has a promising season ahead of them, with the team consisting of several returning players, five of which are seniors. Although it is early on in the season, the coaches and players have already noticed the high level of team comradery. “This year, we already seem so close as a group, which was definitely visible on the field during our scrimmage against Lampeter-Strasburg,” said junior, Sam Wolfkill.

Last year, they lost to Manchester Valley during the state semifinals, with a score of 10-11. Losing by one goal was sure to create a devastating loss, as they were just shy of reaching the state championship game. However, it showed the team’s hard work and determination throughout the season, as they lost to the Mavericks 3-17 in their second game of the year.

The team lost several seniors from last season, which has shifted the focus this year. The coaches have decided to utilize the strengths of the current players and the team to fix the weak spots left from the loss of some of last year’s key players. With a tight knit group and strong leadership from the coaching staff, the Mustangs are sure to have a great season to look forward to.

The boys’ lacrosse team, coached by Andy Lebrun, Austin Feit, Kenny Redi, along with the goalie coach, Coach Doc, has a roster of 28 players, 11 of them being seniors. With highly skilled players and a well-structured team, the boys hope to showcase their talent on the field this year and make it much further in the playoffs.

The boys had an early end to their season last year, with a 3-8 loss against Queen Annes during the first round of playoffs. An early season ending loss was not what the team had hoped for, but they are coming back strong this year to redeem themselves.

Both teams are ready to take on their seasons and put in the hard work and dedication necessary to have a long run in the playoffs. “I am excited to see what this season has in store,” said Wolfkill, “we have a lot of potential and I hope that we can show that on the field.”
