Winter at CMW is always full of good times and fun events, but this year seems to have more planned for the students than ever before. From collections for charities, to Christmas Onesie spirit days, this winter will be jam packed with exciting festivities and functions.
Upcoming Events:
First up is the Toys for Tots Christmas toy drive, which will begin right after the return from Thanksgiving break. This annual collection run by the Marine Corps is for local charities that help to support less fortunate children. Through this drive, we as a school can pitch in to the holiday spirit by helping to collect toys for these children to make their holiday season merry and bright.
Next up is C. Milton Wright’s own Door Decorating Contest! The contest is on once again, putting door against door in the battle for the best. This competition will take place from Monday, December 11th to Friday the 15th, and you will be able to vote on your favorite through a Google Form – be sure to check those emails throughout the holiday season!
The music department’s Winter Concert series will also begin on Tuesday, the 19th of December. First up will be the Jazz and Orchestra concert at 7 P.M. on the 19th. Next up is the Chorus concert on Wednesday, December 20th, at 7 P.M., followed by the Band and Guitar concert at 7 P.M. on Thursday, December 21st.
And don’t forget the most important week in all of December- Spirit Week! The days this year are fun and festive and will leave you with visions of sugar plums dancing around in your head. Spirit Week will be the last week of school before Winter Break, December 18th to the 22nd. The days will go as follows:
Monday, December 18th: Wear your best Blue and White for Snowflake Day!
Tuesday, December 19th: Comfy Cozy Onesie Day!
Wednesday, December 20th: Show your holiday spirit with Green, Red, and Jingle Bells Day!
Thursday, December 21st: Dress your worst for Ugly Sweater Day!
Friday, December 22nd: For our final day of Spirit Week, celebrate your favorite movie with Christmas Movie Graphic T-Shirt Day!
Things to Keep Your Eyes Out For:
Leading into the Holiday Spirit, Principal Harris has a plan to fix up our lovely Christmas lights in the front of the school. This will not only light our path when leaving the school afterhours, but it will also bring some holiday joy to the community.
Next up, Our Boosters club is hoping to lead a pancake breakfast on December 3rd, the morning of the Bel Air Parade. So far, there is no location or time listed, with hopefully more information to come later. Make sure to fill your stomachs with warm pancakes before a long day in the cold!
The main office staff is excited to decorate their lovely office once again like a Christmas wonderland! This year, the office will become a spectacle, carbon copy of Whoville from How the Grinch Stole Christmas, run by Mayor Who, also known as our Principal, Mrs. Harris. Like previous years, the office will be decorated with string lights, garland, and Christmas ornaments, but there will also be decorations more specific to the Dr. Seuss story like the Tree, wreaths, and more. If you would like to see your own homegrown Whoville, stop by and check it out!
The childcare services are also decorating their classroom, but they are taking a more competitive approach- Candy Land is their muse this holiday season! Alongside Candy Land, Santa will hopefully be stopping by to visit the Mini Mustangs on December 20th, so be sure to find him and give him your Christmas wish list.
Hopefully, your holiday season will be merry and bright and full of good times, especially with these fun events filling up your calendar. Happy holidays Mustangs!
