This year’s homecoming spirit week was a huge success. In the past years we have had a 3 ½ day shortened week with the pep rally being on Thursday and homecoming being on a Friday. This year we had a full week of school, so our pep rally was on Friday, and the homecoming dance was on Saturday. This gave CMW students more opportunity to dress up and let me just say, they showed out.
To recap our homecoming spirit week themes were:
- Monday: Disney Day
- Tuesday: Cowboys vs Aliens
- Wednesday: Freaky Friday (teachers and students swap)
- Thursday: Surfers vs Bikers
- Friday: Class Colors
CMW is known for its school spirit, so it is exciting to see how they show up for these kinds of events. Now let’s get to the best dressed for each day.
On Monday, Addison Foskey wins best dressed. She dressed as Maleficent and truly exceeded expectations. Maleficent is a powerful Disney villain, and Addison captured her image amazingly. Her costume was extremely accurate even down to the skin tone.
Moving onto Tuesday, our best dressed is Camila Kelly. Her costume was hilarious and unlike any other. Camila decided to wear an alien blow up. Her costume showed great effort towards this spirit day.
Next, on Wednesday, the best dressed winners are Tessa Davila and Mr. Gerard. For this teacher-student swap, they decided to switch and dress as each other. This was truly great, and they mastered each other’s looks.
On Thursday best dressed goes to Brennan DeSantis. She dressed as a biker. Her costume was bold and tough. Her costume represented a biker very well, and her tattoos were a great touch.
Finally, best dressed for our last day of spirit week goes to our amazing senior class. Every year they show up for the pep rally and decorate fun shirts and pants. They spell out “seniors” on their shirts and write all kinds of words describing themselves on their pants. They also decorate the edges of their shirts and pants with fun-colored feathers. Finally, they paint and decorate a crown to go with their outfit. The seniors are always so fun to see dressed up on spirit day!
Overall, C. Milton Wrights students killed this year’s homecoming spirit week, and we are all counting down the days until next years!
