College decision time

Veronica Ingold

December 1st marks the start of Christmas carols, toy drives, and college decisions. Life couldn’t let us stay relaxed for the holidays. With every calming step forward, we take two anxiety-ridden steps back.

Many decisions are released mid to late December for those who decided to either apply, early decision, early action, or to a school with rolling admissions. This could make the holidays an extra stressful time. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Taking a second to hang out with friends is a great way to clear your mind. Sitting there waiting for a decision won’t make it come any quicker, so we might as well enjoy the time we have.

On the flip side, many students haven’t had to wait long for their answers. Multiple CMW students have said that they received an acceptance letter less than a week after they submitted their application. Smaller schools in MD have competition amongst themselves, so they’re eager to send out their letters first. Which for students is excellent!

Here’s a quick reminder of general due dates for applications:

  • If you applied rolling decision, letters are sent roughly 4-6 weeks after.
  • If you sent in an early action/decision application in November, letters are usually sent out around mid-December.
  • If you have sent in or are looking to send in a regular decision application, the dues dates are generally around early to mid-January, and letters are sent around March or April.
