Nonstick cooking spray
1 1/4 cups creamy peanut butter
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar, divided
1 cup (roughly ½-inch pieces) broken small pretzel twists
3 cups (12-oz pkg.) Nestle Toll House Semi-sweet chocolate morsels, divided
Hershey kisses, M&M’s, pretzel twists, and white chocolate morsels to decorate
Line 13 x 9-inch baking pan with foil leaving an overhang on two sides. Lightly spray foil with nonstick cooking spray.
Beat 1 1/4 cups peanut butter and butter in large mixer bowl until creamy. Gradually beat in 1 cup powdered sugar. Stir in remaining 1 cup powdered sugar and 1/2 cup morsels. Press evenly into prepared baking pan. Smooth top with spatula. Sprinkle with 1 cup pretzel pieces, pressing down lightly.
Microwave remaining 2 1/2 cups morsels in a microwave-safe bowl on MEDIUM-HIGH (70%) power for 45 seconds; Stir. If necessary, microwave at additional 10- to 15-second intervals, stirring just until morsels are melted. Spread chocolate layer evenly over peanut butter mixture.
Decorate on top by breaking the pretzels into antler shaped pieces. Put the Hershey kiss face down into the chocolate. Use the leftover melted chocolate to glue the M&M and the white chocolate morsels onto the Hershey kiss. Also use the melted chocolate to dot the white chocolate morsels to create eyes. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or until firm. Lift from pan; peel off foil. Cut into pieces. Store in covered container in refrigerator.
This recipe turned out very good and was easy to make. The only thing that took long was the time it took to harden in the fridge, and once it’s hardened it’s hard to break the chocolate, but other than that there were no problems. I modified the recipe to have a fun holiday decoration on top which turned out cute. The bars are delicious and taste like Reese’s peanut butter cups. It was fun to make the reindeer’s on top and is the perfect recipe to create with family for the holidays.
