Under the direction of third year head coach and CMW graduate John Thornton, the team will look to improve on their most successful season to date going 15-3, with a returning a state champion (Sophomore James Rivera) and state placer (Senior Sawyer Sturla). 138 pounder Jake Blanchard and heavyweight Sawyer Sturla are the only seniors for this young team featuring two juniors, four sophomores, and two freshman that are likely to be in the starting lineup. The wrestlers main rival this year will be Bel Air who beat them in the regular season and the regional final last year in two exciting matches. Sophomore James Rivera will look to defend his 2018 state championship at 120 pounds and add to his win total from last year with a record of 44-1. Senior Sawyer Sturla will also look to improve on his performance from last year where he placed sixth in the state.
