Students have been receiving  a sheet to start filling in course choices for next school year. This can be difficult for students because it can be stressful to decide what classes to take.  Students often consider how challenging those classes will be when making decisions.

There are some classes that must be taken in order to graduate. These classes  include a math every year, an English every year, at least two years of language or engineering and at least three social studies. These social studies must include U.S. Government, World History and U.S. History.

Also, in order to graduate, there must be a pathway. These include classes in an area of interest that are taken in order to complete that pathway. For example, you could take band all four years and band would be your pathway. There are many pathways to choose from, but talking to a counselor can help you find your best choices.

Another thing to consider is that Advanced Placement classes require more work and more of a time commitment than others. Courses such as AP Biology, AP US History and AP Chemistry. These classes all give out a large amount of homework and it’s a large amount of time. For example, AP Chemistry requires night labs.

It can feel like a lot of pressure to have to choose the classes and stick with them.  It will be easier if one considers all  options and utilizes the services of the counseling office.
