CMW tenth grade Honors English students are taking a creative route to stand up for social justice.
The students first wrote a letter of advocacy for an oppressed group of their choosing.  They then created a visual campaign poster to advocate for the same cause. After creating their posters on paper, they  recreated them on the sidewalk squares, by the bus loop, in chalk.

Some of the slogans included “I am not my disability” – Makenna Burke and “Muslims in danger everywhere. See the people not the profile” -Julia Palmer.
There are a variety of different causes being advocated  through this project from women’s equality rights, to anti-animal abuse and experimentation.
Students of Ms. Christ’s tenth grade Honors English classes recreated their visual slogan campaign posters early February.  Most of the student body witnessed the product of their work while walking to and from their busses.
Ms. Christ is hoping this project will reach everyone schoolwide and impact both students and faculty.
Although students are drawing on school property it is a pre-approved project that is non-permanent. This project is not encouraging vandalism in any way.
All squares will be completed by the end of February second.
